Hi, y’all. Just a quick note to let the four people who’ll likely see this know I’m still here, still kicking, still writing. What I’m writing is a sequel to my novel “Everywhere She’s Not.”
I basically quit using Facebook about a year ago, because . . . well, Facebook is awful. So finally I just couldn’t with them anymore. I’m also not a huge user of Twitter, or Instagram, or any of that stuff. Playing around on social media is fun, but to me it’s all just a distraction from the real writing I try to do every day.
Which I don’t mean in the snotty way I know that sounds. I’m just not wired to enjoy writing/posting the kind of stuff most social media gobbles up, is all. But I’m glad so many do like writing and producing that stuff, and are so good at it. Twitter, Instagram, Tik-Tok and the rest can be such a blast to scroll through.
My wife Cat and I are fine. She’s still working from home. Lately, like everyone else, we’ve been following Trump’s impeachment trial–which looks to wrap up today, actually. So that should be fun.
Ugh. Man, have we all been through so much, for such a long time now. It’s all so unbelievable.
But here we are.
Write me to say hello, or anything else you might want to, any time you want to, and I’ll get back to you. Please stay safe, hug your loved ones for me, and I’ll pop up a post here every now and again to let you know how the new work is progressing. Thank you!
(P.S. Everywhere She’s Not is now available for free via Kindle Unlimited. Also, if you’ve read the novel, and found it deserving, please 5-star rate and review it on Amazon–and/or blog about it, have me on your podcast about it, share a link about it on social media, and so on. That’s the sort of thing that keeps a book alive, and nothing else will. So thank you.)
Hello! I’m delighted to hear that you’re working on a sequel.
What kind of wintry weather did you get recently? We just had some brutal cold. Pretty boring and normal for Minnesota. Boring is the word for just about everything. I’ve learned to bake bread, and have started quilting. I’m grateful to NOT wake up every morning with the thought: ” The President is an idiot.”
How are things going with the cat who moved in?
Good to hear from you!
Hi, Karen. Good to hear from you! MOST recently–as in yesterday–it was 70 degrees here. But that was a total freak. It’s been a long, cold winter–“cold,” of course, being relative. Especially lately, of course. But for us here in Asheville, NC, it’s been a lot of “wintery mix,” black ice, and . . . it’s snowed about five times, but never in a major way at all. But it DID snow–our best snow–on Christmas Day, which was unexpected and, of course, wonderful.
so good to hear all is well John! I think of you all the time, and delight in hearing whats bouncing around for you!
Love you!
Charles
My friend! So good to hear from you! I hope you and yours are doing well? Love you too, big dawg.
So glad to hear you and your wife are doing well! This has definitely been a time to check in with people and worry when we don’t hear back. It will be good to be on the other side of this period in our lives, won’t it?
It will be! Except . . . I’m not sure there is an “other side” to any of this. I think this might be our new forever. Like, it seems like we just have a whole new BC (Before Covid) and AC. Or BT (Before Trump) and AT.
How long is Covid going to last, if, say, a hardcore 30% of our population continues to think Covid and its vaccines are bullshit? And how do we ever get back our trust in our entire system of government, if lies told by our politicians and media carry the same weight as the actual truth?
When everyone agrees that Covid is real, and that the truth is the truth, we arrive at the “other side.” But as long as there’s money to be made, and power to be accrued, by keeping the lies and denial going, we’ll remain more or less exactly where we are right now. (Um . . . sorry about that too-extreme answer! Especially when I was just so glad to hear from you, Ms. Lund!)
