When I was working at the managing editor of On Air, the subscribers' magazine for KPBS, the public broadcasting station in San Diego, I got to know renowned grammarian and best-selling author Richard Lederer, who ran a regular column in the magazine. Long story short, Richard and I combined forces to write Comma Sense, which was published in 2005 by St. Martin's press. The book sold well, got great reviews (chief amongst them being by Lynne Truss, author of the amazing Eats, Shoots and Leaves), and is, I believe, still in print. I learned so much about the whole universe of book writing and publishing through my collaboration with the great Mr. Lederer, who knows it all.
Comma Sense won the San Diego book award for Best Reference Work.
